Founded in 1990, The Housing Partnership, Inc. (HPI) is a nonprofit real estate developer that creates and preserves affordable homes across Kentucky. Our work supports family stability, strengthens neighborhoods, and expands access to safe, high‑quality housing for people of all ages and incomes.
For more than 30 years, we’ve partnered with public and private funders to build more than 10,000 affordable homes and generate nearly $1 billion in community investment. Our mission is rooted in helping families build stability, choice, and long‑term opportunities through housing.
HPI works across West and South Louisville and throughout Kentucky to strengthen housing options and expand affordable homeownership. Our developments are built with long‑term community health in mind, revitalizing neighborhoods while keeping housing affordability at the center.
Our HUD‑certified Homebuyer Education program is nationally recognized and walks residents through the homebuying process step‑by‑step. We help people improve credit, set financial goals, and connect with trusted mortgage lenders and down‑payment programs. Our ultimate goal is to enable residents to achieve greater financial stability, have more housing choices, and see a clear path to homeownership..
Through strong public and private partnerships, HPI has developed more than 10,000 affordable housing units for low‑income individuals and families. In addition to our own development work, we provide consulting services to nonprofits and organizations looking to create affordable housing in their communities.
I’ve never been in a program where I rent a house and they show me how to buy a house. I want to be a homeowner to simply invest in myself and to stop paying rent
